Agathe Backer Grøndahl Complete Works

Fom April 2017 Norwegian Musical Heritage has started the project Agathe Backer Grøndahl Complete Works, with Audun Sannes Jonassen as editor. Throughout the rest of 2017 this complete edition will be prepared through collection and registration of relevant sources, developement of a Work Catalogue, a study of her notational style and preapration of the general principles of this edition.

Agathe Ursula Backer Grøndahl (1847-1907) was both a pianist and a composer and an important person in the Norwegian musical life in the last half of the 19th century. She wrote first of all songs and piano pieces. She started her studies in Oslo with Halfdan Kjerulf, Otto Winter-Hjelm and Ludvig Mathias Lindeman. Later she studied in Berlin, Firenze (Hans von Bulow) and Weimar (Franz Liszt).
