After six years as the administrative hub of the Norwegian Musical Heritage-project, the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo handed over the leadership to the Grieg Research Centre at University of Bergen. The new team is looking forward to continuing the great work done by the music edition teams developing during the years, gathering artists and scholars, conductors and music publishers, notation specialists and music encoding developers, musicologists and librarians.
Music as the most fugitive of arts depends on written material, such as scores and parts, that is the basis for any future performance. Still, the list of works waiting for being rescued from decay and oblivion is long, and just grows with every year. The new team will follow up the impressive results of the predecessors, and further develop this project with new ideas and in new directions, aiming at making the music of the past, and the past in the music tangible and exciting experiences again for new generation of listeners.
