Anna-polka

(Anna-polka)

Anna Polka

JSV 1

Anna-Polka can be found in an orchestral score (autograph) together with three other dances by Svendsen also in the popular style of the time. The score is marked 1862, but this particular little Polka is probably composed earlier, maybe as early as in 1854, when Svendsen was 14, and then maybe scored for piano or for violin and piano. The publisher Carl Warmuth printed three arrangements of this polka in 1883. These arrangements have been believed to be by JS, but the protocols of Warmuth show that they were arranged by August Horn (1825-1893). At the time of publication Svendsen wanted the polka to be marked as a 'youth work'.

Composition: 1854.
