Svendsen, Johan
Min skat
My Treasure
([da]: Min skat. Text af Chr. Winters)
JSV 24
Text author: Christian Winthers (1796-1876)
Text source: Christian Winthers: Sang og Sagn, Philipsens forlag, Kjøbenhavn 1840
We cannot be entirely sure that Svendsen composed this melody. The reference to Svendsen is only found in a single source, a copy by Henrik Christian Albrechtson (1827–1911), and the composer’s name is here merely identified as ‘Svendsen’. The bookl includes six melodies to the text ‘Min Skat’ (My Treasure), a three-verse poem written by the Danish poet Christian Winther (1796–1876) and first published in a collection of poetry from 1840, Sang og Sagn.57 Presumably, Albrechtson found six different melodies to this popular text and included them in his collection, with two melodies for each stanza.
