Before embarking on his studies in Leipzig in 1862, Johan Svendsen (1840–1911) composed a number of works in the popular genres of his time – nine waltzes, two polkas, two galops, two marches, and a bolero. The source material for Bolero is incomplete, but extensive enough to facilitate a revision and completion.
