Two manuscripts of a 20-bar instrumental piece in E minor in Svendsen’s handwriting are kept at the Danish Music Museum in Copenhagen. Neither of the manuscripts includes a title or an instrument indication. Benestad and Schjelderup-Ebbe assign the title Dance to the piece in F. Benestad & D. Schjelderup-Ebbe: Johan Svendsen, mennesket og kunstneren, Aschehoug, Oslo, 1990, but it is difficult to make a case for such a concrete label.
