Svendsen, Johan

Klaverstykke (E-dur)

Piano Piece (E major)

JSV 88

This miniature in E major, one of Svendsen’s favourite keys, consists of 16 bars across two staff systems. Since it is notated on music paper with printed staves, it must have been written quite late in Svendsen’s life. The manuscript is kept at the Danish Music Museum in Copenhagen under the catalogue signature ‘Various smaller music manuscripts and drafts’. The handwriting can neither be authenticated to be that of Svendsen, nor can we be certain whether it is a sketch, a finished piece of music or, for example, a folk tune.

Unknown composition date. The music paper has printed clefs, so the work is probably written late in Svendsen's life.

Instrumentation: piano
Metre: 3/4

Key: E major

Extent: ca. 0:30 min.
