Svendsen, Johan

To sanger (tapt)

Two Songs (lost)

JSV VARIA

Two letters from Svendsen to Jakob Breda Bull (1853-1930), from 26 September 1895 and from 18t October 1896, have relevance for this work. They are located at the Royal Library  in København. In the latest letter Svendsen urges Bull to print two little songs, one of them with the title ‘Sommernatten’. The oldest letter show that such songs were planned. Bull had sent some poems to Svendsen, but Svendsen did not find anything that was suitable. Svendsen still continues that he maybe later will compose music to some of the texts.

Composition: Copenhagen 1896.
